Behind Morocco foundation, there is a team of dedicated board members who work hard to make a difference. We have board members in the U.S and in Morocco. The local team in Morocco is responsible for fund raising and execution of the MF projects. The U.S team is responsible for fund raising and U.S operations.
Board members are not compensated for their hard work; their most valuable compensation is to make a difference in people's lives. All donations are dedicated exclusively to the projects intended for and will be allocated to the specific projects. We have no overhead charges.
Omar Sary was born and raised in Casablanca. In 1987, he moved to Los Angeles to pursue his education. Omar is the co-founder of OppSoft Business Solutions, a Sage and Microsoft Business Partner that delivers Accounting and web enhanced business management solutions to companies that are seeking to efficiently manage their financials, operations and customer relationships, and to increase profits. Prior to forming his company, Omar was the Director of International Business Development and Professional Services at AccountMate Software Corporation, a manufacturer of accounting software for small and Mid-Size businesses. Prior to joining AccountMate, Omar had first-hand experience in the Accounting Software Industry internationally in the role of International Business Development Manager at SBT Accounting Systems. Omar has a B.A. degree in Business Administration from California State University at Fullerton with an emphasis in International Business. He volunteers his free time to non-profit causes such as Lifehouse, an organization that strive to improve the quality of life for individuals with developmental disabilities. He is also active in fund raising activities for local schools and enjoys playing tennis. Omar lives in Sausalito CA with his wife and two children His aim with MF is to enhance its mission by playing a role in helping the underprivileged and to decrease significantly illiteracy and poverty in Morocco.
Director Partners & Sponsors - Mr. Ali Bettahi - San Francisco Born and raised in Casablanca, Mr. Ali Bettahi moved to San Francisco in 1993 to pursue college. He graduated with BS in Finance from Golden Gate University. Since then, Ali has held Sales and Marketing positions with Morgan Stanley Dean Witter, BBO Corporation, and for the last 5 years, has been a sales executive at Qwest Communications. In 2002, Ali founded Unisystem Group in Casablanca. Unisystem has 9 employees and specializes in Telecom and Security consulting. Vice-President - Mr. Said Bouayad- Casablanca Mr Said Bouayad is a graduate of Rabat University with a degree in economics in 1967. He joined the Moroccan military for few years after his graduation. Mr. Bouayad had a successful career in banking. He joined BCM in 1969. After 5 years at BCM, he started a career in the private sector. In 1991, Mr Bouayad joined ABN AMRO as an executive member. After 10 years with ABN AMRO Bank Maroc, He concluded his banking career with BMCI bank from 2001 to 2005. Mr. Bouayad is now enjoying his retirement in Casablanca and is committing his time and resources to Morocco Foundation's success. Mr. Bouayad can be contacted at
General Secretary - Mrs. Nadia Serhani- Washington DC Born in 1977 in Casablanca, Nadia moved to the US in 2000 for a family visit. She met her husband in 2001 and decided to remain here VS. Finishing her Master degree in France. During her pregnancy, she volunteered extensively for the United Nations Online volunteers network translating university level economic studies for students in Africa who cannot afford to pay for classes. She was a co-founder of Morocco Foundation in 2004. Mrs. Serhani education is in hospitality management, and after a short career in the military as cultural advisor in 2004, She currently works as an HR administrator. Despite her busy schedule as a mom to a toddler, wife, caring daughter and employee, she makes it a duty to invest daily in the Foundation work and extend our community's generosity to our people in Morocco. International Operations Director - Mr. Abdellah Essadiq- Kenitra-Rabat Abdallah Essadiq was born and raised in Kenitra, Morocco. After attending Lycee Descartes, he immigrated to the U.S. in the mid 1970’s. Essadiq began his life in America working as a Maitre’ d at the Belhurst Castle, located in Geneva, N.Y. In 1979, he opened his first restaurant, The Carousel, in downtown Syracuse, N.Y. Then in 1985 he created American Hearing Centers, an audiology and hearing instruments firm. Essadiq has returned to Rabat where he resides with his wife Souad Zinane. He is blessed with 5 children, Rachida, 22; Danny, 15; Jamie, 13; Ahmed, 6; and Abla, 2. Back in Morocco, Essadiq created Outremer Import and Export Company, which specializes in computer hardware and internet centers in various locations in Morocco. He now participates in the ownership of two hotels and restaurants. Essadiq is a member of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce as well as various other organizations in Morocco. Communication and Public Relations Director - Mrs Zeineb Mammou - New York Zeineb was born in 1979. She grew up and studied in Casablanca until the baccalaureate that she obtained from Lycee Lyautey in 1997. She decided to follow her studies in France, first in Paris, then in Saint-Etienne where she integrated a Business School (ESC Saint-Etienne). She graduated with a Masters in Science with a specialization in Entrepreneurship and Marketing. During her business school studies, she discovered the community life, and went a step further by creating several associations with some of her friends: Morocco Human Trip, which aimed to send school supplies to the South of Morocco, and the UNESCO Club of Saint-Etienne, intended to discover the culture to disadvantaged children from the area. Zeineb worked next in the Advertising and Communication field. She joined some big advertising firms, such as FKGB in Paris or J. Walter Thompson in Casablanca. She was in charge of the advertising campaigns and communication programs for multinational accounts such as Unilever, Kraft Foods, Nivea, Unicef, Shell. Today, Zeineb joined her husband in the United States, and settled in New York City. By joining Morocco Foundation, Zeineb hopes to achieve what she likes the most: helping others and contribute to attenuate the suffering of Moroccans in need. Zeineb can be contacted at
Fundraising Director/Treasurer - Mr. Amine Benneftah - Berkley, CA Amine is an IT Sr. Program Manager in Telecom. He has led and delivered projects ranging from Customer Acquisition and Billing to CRM, Customer Support and Online applications for Internet Services.Graduated from the University of Montana with a degree in Business, he also earned an MBA in Management Information Systems from University of North Texas.Besides Telecom and the Internet world, Amine is interested in World Music, Soccer, Travel, Current Affairs, Enterpreneurship and charitable work. IT Director / Webmaster- Mr. Fahd Ayoubi - Austin TX Fahd was born in 1979 in casablanca. He went to Moulay Idriss high school where he focused on math, physics and other sciences. After getting his baccalaureate , he decided to come to the US and persue his education at a US university. Fahd's first experience in the US was at the heart of this country - Kansas. He majored in Management Information Systems and focused on the technical track by having a minor in Computer Science. While persuing his Bachelors degree at Wichita State University, Fahd discoverd his love for site design, and development. He was a member of many Professional Organizations including AITP (Association of Information Technology Professionals) SIFE (Students In Free Enterprise). During this time Fahd interned at numerous High Tech Companies including some in Morocco. Fahd then moved to Texas to persue a Master's in MIS from the Texas A&M University. he continued to be involved in many professional organizartions and be part of many entrepreneurial programs. Fahd moved to Austin, TX by mid-2004 where he is employed by one of the best 100 places to work for in the Country (Forbes). Operations Director - Samira Achour - Rabat Samira is an architect urban planner. She was born and raised in Rabat. She graduated from the national school of architecture in Rabat. For 4yeras, she worked as an architect for the development of touristic and industrial investment in the region of Marrakech. After she moved to Montréal to earn her master in urban planning. Actually, Samira returned back to morocco and she is interested in social and non-profit work, besides architecture, art, travel and photography. Samira can be contacted on
Medical-Expert - Soraya Tonos - Chicago USA Soraya Tonos is a Registered. Nurse.She Was born and raised in Iran near the great ruins of Perspolis.She Came to U.S. to attend nursing school, and graduated from University of Illinois. She is married to a Chicago attorney, and has 2 sons. One son is married to a Colombian, no grandchildren yet. Soraya is passionate about making a difference, and loves volunteering. She recently volunteered in Rabat for the Cross-Cultural Solutions, a New York based NGO.
She is very interested in developing the Medical Relief branch at the Morocco Foundation. She is currently preparing to retire in Fes starting fall of 2007. Born and raised in Rabat, Mr. Maati Benmbarek left Morocco as a teenager to go surf the pacific and finish his business studies. With a Baccalaureate in Business & Accountancy from Rabat, he left for San Francisco in the booming time of 2000. While attending the University of California at Los Angeles –UCLA, Maati worked in retail banking for Wells Fargo Bank. After an internship in Deloitte Paris and a Degree in Business Economics and Accounting from UCLA, Maati joined the audit practice of Deloitte-San Francisco. Maati is been working mostly in "Financial Services Industry" with a focus in Venture Capitals and Private Equities. He had some prior experience with non for profit but limited to San Francisco Symphony endowment fund and Daughters of Charity Health systems in the Silicon Valley. Further, along his involvement with his clients, he is one of the chairs of a Success Committee at Deloitte. The Success Committee program is designed to enhance the personal and professional growth of staff through a series of professional programs and social events. Events also focus on team building activities & community service. Since he moved to California Maati became member of Techwadi, Silicon Valley's premier professional association for Arab-American. Maati has also been involved with the wall street Wizards Urban Financial Literacy Program, where he shares with minority students professional career options & career opportunities in Finance & accounting.
